MP letter response!

We received something very exciting through the post today! After writing letters to our local MP, Heather Wheeler, about the growing number of cars in our village, she sent every one of us, including Mr C, an individual letters. She also said that she will make a case for the issue we have raised!

Our letters highlighted that there is no way to cross Twyford Road to get to school or the park and some of us are feeling very worried about crossing. In our Willington Waterways topic, we sent out a questionnaire to family and friends in the village who also raised this concern. We suggested a zebra crossing or speed bumps to try and improve the problem.

Thank you so much to Heather Wheeler for finding the time to reply to all of us!

Designing our own London Skyline

Today, we were set a challenge by C Constructions Ltd, to create a new, iconic building for London’s skyline.

First, we drew draft designs on a London skyline and then came together in a team to make a decision.

Then, we constructed our own London buildings with a variety of materials and equipment.

Here are some pictures from the day, we really like our own skyline too!

London Architectural Sketches

We were very chilled out today and sketched a selection of London buildings whilst listening to some classical music. Everyone chose either the Gherkin, City Hall, The Globe or the ‘Walkie Talkie’.

Here are just a few. Can you guess which building is which?

London Transport

Today, we tried to make our own advertising posters for different public transport in London. Each group had a different transport including taxi, bus and the Underground.

We attempted to provide as much information as possible so that people passing by could take it in. This was a lot harder than it first seemed! We did our own research about the different modes of transport and tried to make them as official as possible. Here are just a few examples:

Why is London Cool?

We’ve got a new geography topic starting and it’s all about London! We’re going to be looking at buildings, transport, the Government and attractions to see why it is such a popular place.

We used iBrainstorm to record questions that we want to find out about London. Each table had 5 minutes to add to the specific focus area.
